Our September is off to an exciting start, and we wanted to share a few updates with you.

We launched Project Tailwind, a call for ambitious AI safety initiatives ([link removed]). There are critical, unsolved AI safety problems that no one owns; Project Tailwind is our effort to find founders who will build the institutions to own them. In a related post on why we're scaling our AI and biosecurity work, CG President Emily Oehlsen writes that we're at a critical moment when transformative AI may arrive soon, and describes how we're responding: by giving substantially more, making faster decisions, and supporting grantees as they raise their ambitions ([link removed]).

This week, we also unveiled Launchpad Funds, a call for proposals for new or scalable funds that address important problems in global health and wellbeing (GHW) ([link removed]). Discussing the new initiative in a post, GHW Executive Director Otis Reid and Program Director James Snowden elaborate further on our plans to accelerate GHW spending now to maximize impact over time ([link removed]).

One last thing: If you click on the above posts, you might notice something new — CG is now on Substack ([link removed]). Our Substack will feature original writing from across the CG team, and will now be the platform from which we send the monthly CG newsletter (which you currently receive). We’ll continue to update the CG blog on the Coefficient Giving website, but we’re excited to offer readers a new way to stay in touch with all that’s happening at CG.
