Dear AFGE Activist,
Twenty-five years ago our country changed forever.
So many of us remember that tragic day — where we were, what we were doing, who we were with, and the disbelief we felt. On the 25th anniversary of September 11, we hold in solemn remembrance the lives we lost, including many of our union siblings. From fire fighters to police officers and other emergency responders, to flight attendants, pilots and fellow government workers and everyone in between, the loss from that tragic day will always be with us.
We join with millions of people around the country in reflection and recognition of the bravery, unity and service of so many 25 years ago who jumped into action when terror struck. We will never forget those we've lost and the commitment and sacrifice of those who helped us rebuild after one of our darkest hours.
The state of air travel changed forever and from it the important work of Transportation Security Officers emerged. For nearly 25 years TSOs have kept the travelling public safe. We uplift the work they do each and every day, even in the midst of government shutdowns and privatization efforts.
Today, we join our AFGE family in honoring the legacy of the victims, survivors and heroes that emerged from this tragedy.
In Solidarity,
AFGE
