There is so much going on in the royal stratosphere that it’s difficult to know where to start. So we’ll begin with Prince George’s new beginning—on September 8, Prince William and Kate Middleton dropped their eldest child off at Eton College, William’s alma mater, to begin his educational career there. It came one day after a letter written on behalf of King Charles was released on September 7, outlining in no uncertain terms the working royal role (or lack thereof) of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle now that they’re back in the United Kingdom. It turns out that Harry and Meghan were left surprised by the correspondence, and Harry has already received some blowback in its aftermath in regards to his Invictus Games.

The king and Harry have been in touch—via phone, as Charles remains at Balmoral—and Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet started school this week, as did Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis at Lambrook. Charlotte and Louis returned to school on September 9, the same day William and Princess Anne represented the British royal family at King Harald V of Norway’s funeral in Oslo. The next day, September 10, Kate joined William for a surprise appearance at a meaningful cause close to their hearts, re-wearing a bold pop of color from earlier this year and meaningful earrings. Princess Eugenie was also seen out and about in the U.K. for the first time since welcoming daughter Adelaide last month. Next week marks Harry’s 42nd birthday—and no doubt more news from all corners of the royal family.
