Give thanks for defeat of assisted suicide Bill

Dear supporter,

Wonderfully, the House of Commons has rejected the attempt to legalise assisted suicide in England and Wales by 286 votes to 270.

Please join us in giving praise and thanks to God for this deliverance for our nation. It is a tremendous result, and we give him the glory.

A record of how MPs voted is available on the Parliament website.

Thank you for your prayers and your contact with MPs. Under God, this has been a huge team effort, over a long period of time. We’re grateful to you, and also to our many co-workers from across the political and philosophical spectrum who have worked so hard towards this truly vital victory.

I’m relieved that MPs understood that legalising state-sponsored suicide would put tens of thousands of vulnerable people at risk. After years of media coverage favouring the assisted suicide lobby, this is a fantastic outcome. Please join me in praying that it would help start to dismantle the myths that have misled so many into believing that assisted suicide is an act of compassion.
