I need to tell you what's actually happening to our elections right now, because it should make you furious.

The Trump Justice Department just announced it's deploying 1,000 federal monitors to polling places this November — the largest deployment in American history, nearly TRIPLE what was sent during the last presidential election.

Meanwhile, ICE's enforcement surges in cities across this country have left election officials and voters alike bracing for intimidation at the polls, even as DHS insists agents "won't be there." Forgive us if we don't take a word that comes out of the Trump administration on good faith.

And on top of all of it, USPS finalized mail ballot restrictions in open defiance of a federal judge who told the Postmaster General, by name, to stop.

It’s beginning to look like a coordinated campaign to make Americans afraid to vote.

I went on CNN this week to say exactly that, because someone has to. But this isn't a talking point for me. This is the whole reason Equal Opportunity Now exists.

Americans should be able to walk into a polling place, or drop a ballot in the mail, without wondering whether they'll be watched, questioned, or targeted for it. That is not a partisan position. That is the baseline of a free and fair democracy — and this administration is dismantling it in plain sight, months before a single vote is cast.

This is exactly why I built Equal Opportunity Now. We are fighting to elect leaders who will stand up to voter intimidation, defend the right to vote without fear, and refuse to let this administration turn Election Day into a show of federal force. Because there is no equal opportunity if people are too afraid to even cast a ballot.
