Twenty-five years ago, America woke up to an unimaginable horror.

Thousands of families lost fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, brothers, and sisters. Thousands of lives were changed forever. And for millions of Americans, the morning of September 11, 2001 remains a memory we can recall with painful clarity.

But remembering the victims means more than remembering where we were that morning. It means remembering the lessons of that terrible day—and having the courage to act on them.

We promised we would never forget. But have we forgotten the lessons of 9/11?

The attacks exposed a painful truth: America’s immigration and border systems can be exploited by people who wish to do us harm. Yet, 25 years later, our nation continues to face serious challenges from terrorism, radicalism, and an immigration system that too often fails to put the safety of Americans like you and me first.

The warning of 9/11 should have changed the way we think about our borders and immigration policies. Instead, too many politicians chose to look the other way.

And the consequences are still with us.

The disastrous lax border policies of the last administration increased the danger of terrorist sleeper cells sneaking in unnoticed. In 2024, the House Judiciary Committee released a report showing the Biden administration knowingly admitted hundreds of illegal aliens on the terrorist watch list into the country. Furthermore, many of the nearly 2 million encountered “special interest aliens,” who come from countries considered national security threats to the United States, were allowed in.

The threat of Iranian-backed sleeper cells is so high that the Department of Defense concluded in September 2025: “The question is no longer whether Hezbollah has infiltrated the United States – it is how far its reach extends and how long before it strikes.”

We cannot afford another generation of political complacency. We must demand an immigration system that protects our national security, puts American citizens first, and takes seriously the lessons learned from the lost lives of 9/11 victims.
