Folks,

Twenty-five years ago today, nearly 3,000 people went to work and never came home. Since then, brave first responders and survivors have faced serious illnesses from the toxic exposure they endured at rescue sites.

Today is about remembering those we lost, and keeping our promise to the survivors: the first responders and the families who have been living with the weight of that day ever since.

I have spent my career fighting to make sure this country keeps its promise to those heroes and to make sure the World Trade Center Health Program is fully funded.

Politics continues to threaten the care these heroes depend on. It’s deeply unfortunate, but it’s why we have to keep pushing until this program is fully funded and permanently secured.

I am thinking today of the families still grappling with loss, the survivors still fighting for their health, and the first responders who gave everything and deserve everything in return.

25 years later, we continue to honor and remember them. And we will never stop fighting for them.
