It's called the Duo, it starts at $1,999, and pre-orders open October 16 ahead of an October 23 release. Opened, it runs a 7.6-inch display that Apple says is 80% larger than the iPhone 18 Pro. | The stock barely moved. | That gap — landmark product, shrug from the market — is what I want to talk about. | This was John Ternus's first keynote. Here’s a link to get started. | Look at what he priced. The iPhone 18 Pro arrives at $1,199 and the Pro Max at $1,299, each $100 above last year's models. There is no standard iPhone 18 this fall — it's been pushed to spring. Memory costs are spiking across the industry, and Apple pushed price rather than absorb it. | That works because of mix. Pro models went from roughly 37% of iPhone shipments in 2020 to about 65% in 2025. Apple has spent five years training its best customers to buy the expensive phone. The $1,999 Duo is simply the next rung on that ladder. | The base business is already strong – with June quarterly results including: | · Revenue rose 16% to $109.4 billion | · iPhone revenue jumped 22% to $54.25 billion | · Diluted earnings climbed 29% to $2.02 a share | Morgan Stanley estimates the foldable alone contributes roughly $14 billion in December-quarter revenue. The firm estimates 7 to 8 million units built in the back half of this year. And as many as 20 million across the first product cycle. The firm called this Apple's most consequential launch since the iPhone X. | At about 37 times forward earnings, the stock isn't cheap. | But here's what I think most investors are underrating today. | Cook was an operations CEO — supply chain, services, margins. Ternus is a mechanical engineer who ran hardware engineering and already oversaw the products generating most of Apple's revenue. | The Duo isn't a one-off. It's the first item on a hardware roadmap that reportedly includes smart glasses, camera AirPods, a home display, and a 20th-anniversary iPhone in 2027. | Cook launched three new product categories in fifteen years. Ternus opened with one in eight days. | Bank of America went into this launch reiterating a Buy and a $380 price target. | I'm bullish and own the stock. The next real data point is Duo pre-order demand on October 16, followed by holiday guidance later that month. | I’m investing in a new quantum computing security company.
