 Just announced: Synchronized Skating World Championships 2027

History is being made in Nottingham. For the first time, the city will welcome the world's best synchronized skaters for nine unforgettable days of speed, precision, drama, and world-class competition next year. Motorpoint Arena will host four world championships, including the first ever Synchro9 World Championships - an exciting new format set to debut at the Olympic Winter Games in 2030.
Unveiled last week by Nottingham skating legends Dame Jayne Torvill and Sir Christopher Dean, and with around 1,100 skaters from 21 countries and thousands of fans expected, this will be a huge moment for Nottingham and an incredible chance to experience elite international sport right here in the city.
The excitement of synchronized skating will also be taken beyond the ice and into the heart of Nottingham. An ambitious city-wide programme will invite fans, residents, visitors and those discovering the sport to get closer to the athletes, experience the thrill and join in a celebration of everything that makes this sport so spectacular.
Tickets for the championships go on sale next Friday 18 September at 10am.

Their journey begins when they discover a baby dragon, and together they embark on a heartwarming quest to reunite the young dragon with her majestic mother, guarded by the noble dragon riders. Along the way, audiences are treated to an extraordinary blend of global circus artistry.

The community-led Nottingham Green Festival aims to share skills and knowledge to tackle the ongoing climate crisis, biodiversity loss, and other environmental concerns.
There's lots to enjoy at this fun-filled, family-friendly event including live music, vegan food, craft stalls, kids activities, small green businesses, and local groups and charities educating the community on the great work they do. It's open from 12pm-6pm and is free to enter.

Mela in the Park will showcase Bollywood artists alongside stalls, music and workshops. Hosted by Gemini Sounds and Indi Singh, performers include headline artist Navin Kundra, Kay Kay & Co Fusion Band, Kaafi Mahmoud & Arijit Sen, students from the Nottingham Asian Arts Council Music & Dance Academy, and more.

Heritage Open Days

England's largest festival of history and culture returns, giving you the chance to see hidden places and try out new experiences, all of which are free to explore. This year's theme is Everyday Histories where participants will explore stories of working lives throughout the ages.
Venues taking part across Nottinghamshire include Green's Windmill & Science Centre, Wollaton Hall's Walled Garden, Bassetlaw Museum, Newstead Abbey, Newark Castle, and Bennerley Viaduct. The D.H. Lawrence Birthplace Museum in Eastwood will also be opening for free this weekend (Saturday 12 & Sunday 13 September) as part of both Heritage Open Days and the D.H. Lawrence Festival.

Nottingham - it’s your time to Shine. Join hundreds of people lighting up the city to raise money for life-saving cancer research. You’ll walk past Nottingham's most iconic landmarks before ending with a finish line celebration.
People of all abilities can take part and the 10k walk will take between 1.5 to 3 hours to complete. There's still time to sign up - entries will be accepted until 8.15pm this evening.
