John,
Despite opposition from the Puyallup Tribe, over 80 community organizations, and Governor Inslee, Puget Sound Energy (PSE) is still working to complete their fracked gas project in Tacoma. This project is an affront to our climate, health, and safety.
Luckily, it’s not too late to change course. PSE needs one final permit from the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency (PSCAA). The agency is currently accepting comments from the public about the approval of this massive fracked gas facility.
Send in your comment by September 9th to urge PSCAA to reject the permit for the Tacoma LNG project! [[link removed]]
PSCAA has moved this project forward based on deeply flawed environmental analysis and without the government-to-government consultation with the Puyallup Tribe that is required under law. Now, we must object to this decision and call on the agency to reconsider and deny PSE’s permit. [[link removed]]
Drilling for fracked gas results in potent climate pollution from methane, and pollutes water and air with dangerous chemicals like benzene that have been linked to cancer, birth defects, and infertility. Fracked gas pipelines and facilities regularly leak and cause explosions, putting families’ health and safety at risk.
And the pollution hits low income families and people of color first and hardest. People of color and low income families disproportionately live in the most polluted and under-resourced neighborhoods where fracked gas facilities are placed, and face higher rates of health and economic disparities.
We cannot create a clean energy future by investing in dirty energy. Send your comment to PSCAA today. [[link removed]]
Thanks for all you do,
