As the world’s attention is consumed by the ongoing horrors in the West Bank and the tragic mishandling of the Iran war, far too many have forgotten about the nearly 2 million people living in makeshift tents in Gaza. Families for whom otherwise-ordinary matters like hot weather, rain showers and clean water have become matters of life or death.

It is easy to see these people as temporary refugees of a war that will one day end – this is not the case. They continue to be refugees because Netanyahu has made sure they’d have nowhere to go back to.

He’s made his intention clear, saying: “We are destroying more and more homes. They have nowhere to return to. The only obvious result will be the desire of the Gazans to emigrate outside the Strip.”

As Jews and pro-peace Americans who care deeply about Israel, our responsibility is not just to condemn acts committed in the name of defending the nation. It must also be to help repair the devastation they have caused.

Before you read further, please take a moment to read, sign and share our petition supporting the Ceasefire Compliance Act – legislation that would address this crisis by preventing US weapons from being used in Gaza if Israel continues to violate the ceasefire or obstruct its implementation.

And rather than treating this carnage as the tragic byproduct of war, the Netanyahu government openly takes pride in the destruction they’ve caused:



It breaks my heart to see what Israel has done to Gaza in the name of security.

We cannot – and must not – resign ourselves to accepting this fate for Gaza.

Right now, we have an opportunity to choose a different path. There is a roadmap on the table to disarm Hamas and replace them with a technocratic Palestinian government that would oversee Gaza’s reconstruction.

Hamas has reportedly accepted this plan. Despite this opening, Netanyahu has rejected the roadmap. Instead, he openly muses about further occupation, saying the plan to “encourage the migration” of Palestinians from Gaza elsewhere is “still on the table.”

Friend, we cannot stand idly by while Netanyahu and his far-right government compromise Israeli security and Palestinian safety in pursuit of their fantasy of permanent occupation.

That’s why we’re circulating a petition in support of the Ceasefire Compliance Act – legislation that would prevent US weapons from being used in Gaza if Israel continues to violate the ceasefire or obstruct its implementation.
