I love Ohio with all of my heart.

I was born and raised in Mansfield, a blue-collar city. My dad was a doctor (“Doc Brown” to his patients), and my mom was president of our local YWCA and a leader in the Ohio Hunger Task Force. They both taught me everything I know about hard work, service, and standing up for what’s right. 

I was also lucky to learn a lot from the Ohioans who formed the backbone of our community: autoworkers at General Motors, steelworkers at Empire Detroit, machinists at Tappan Stove, and electricians at Westinghouse. 

But as time went on, Mansfield – and other Ohio cities and towns like it – took a hit.

I watched as big corporations lobbied for tax breaks and bad trade agreements that shipped Ohio jobs overseas. I saw firsthand how families were devastated by decisions made by Washington politicians hundreds of miles away who didn’t care about the harm they were causing.

The sad thing is, not much has changed since then. The system is rigged against working people and in favor of billionaires and corporate interests, and politicians like Jon Husted are hellbent on keeping it that way. That’s why I’m running to defeat him.

But I can’t do it without your help, especially today, with the Republicans’ national midterm convention taking place and new attacks sure to come my way. If we can raise $1 million before midnight, we can be ready to fight back and flip this seat. If not, we could lose ground at a pivotal moment.

So please, Friend, will you chip in $5 or more right now to help me defeat Husted and the GOP in Ohio, take back the Senate, and keep up the fight for working people across the country?
