John,
I'm having lunch with Jeff Jackson next Wednesday, and I'd love for you to join us.
Jeff and I go back a long way. We served together in the state Senate, then in Congress, and we both got gerrymandered out of our seats by Republicans in the legislature. He's been a good friend through all of it, and now he's showing up for my campaign for Wake County District Attorney.
He started out as a prosecutor in Gaston County trying murder and sex offense cases, and he's brought that to the AG's office. Two weeks ago he landed the biggest big tech settlement in American history. At least $451 million coming to North Carolina, and real child safety changes at Instagram and Facebook.
That's what this job can do when you take it seriously.
Come have lunch with us. We'll talk about the DA's office, what we're up against in Wake County, and probably a few stories from our time in Congress that didn't make the news.
Wednesday, September 16
12:00 to 1:30 PM
Sitti, 137 S Wilmington St, Raleigh
Can't make lunch? Chipping in at that same link helps just as much. Whatever you can give, I'm grateful.
Hope to see you Wednesday.

Wiley Nickel is the incoming District Attorney for Wake County.
He represented North Carolina's 13th Congressional District, which he flipped from red to blue in 2022 before Republicans gerrymandered him out of the seat. Now, Wiley is focused on making sure the fastest-growing county in our state has a justice system it can count on.
That work starts now, and it starts with you.
