The trade was disclosed weeks before the stock joined the S&P 500. ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

AI Capital / Congressional Trading

Bloom Energy Is Up 52% Since Paul Pelosi Bought Near a Low in July. This Week,
the Stock Joined the S&P 500.

Onsite power generation for data centers is the bet. The disclosure timeline
is the story.

A congressional periodic transaction report filed under former House Speaker
Nancy Pelosi's name and disclosed onAugust 21 revealed that her household —
trades attributed to her husband, Paul Pelosi — acquired 15,000 Bloom Energy
shares and 200 call options across two transactions onJuly 24 and July 28,
valued under House disclosure bands at between $4.25 million and $14.5 million.
The second purchase landed the same day Bloom Energy reported second-quarter
revenue of$1.07 billion, up 166% year over year and beating consensus by nearly
29%, alongside raised full-year guidance of up to $4.2 billion.

Bloom Energy shares have climbed 52% since that entry point, part of a run
that's taken the stock up more than 400% over the trailing 12 months and more
than 100% year-to-date. The latest leg came this week: S&P Dow Jones Indices
announced Bloom Energy will join the S&P 500 in its September quarterly
rebalance, sending shares nearly 40% higher in the five trading days leading
intoSeptember 8, when the stock closed at $282.50 — up sharply from the $166.84
level where the household's second tranche was purchased.

Bloom's underlying pitch sits directly inside the AI power bottleneck this
newsletter has tracked for weeks: its solid-oxide fuel cells let data centers
add onsite electricity generation without waiting years for grid
interconnection — the exact capacity constraint Melius Research named as AI's
binding growth limit, and adjacent to the rising electricity costs behind
Minneapolis Fed President Neel Kashkari's inflation dissent. The same
disclosure filing also flagged a household purchase of Intel shares, an
established Bloom Energy customer for data-center power systems — pairing one
position on the chips running AI workloads with another on the electricity
required to run them.

Quiver Quantitative estimates the household's cumulative trading return near
965% since 2014.

🧠 Quick Quiz

What event triggered Bloom Energy's steepest jump in the days before September
8?

A. S&P 500 index inclusion announcement

B. An acquisition offer

C. A new Nvidia partnership

✓ Answer: A. The S&P 500 inclusion, announced weeks after the household's
position was already disclosed, forced index funds to buy the stock regardless
of price — the kind of mechanical demand that turns an existing position into
an even larger one almost overnight.

A spokesperson for Pelosi's office maintains she does not personally direct
her household's trades and has said she supports a ban on congressional stock
trading generally. Nothing in the public record alleges she or her husband had
advance knowledge of the S&P 500 decision, which sits with an independent
committee, not Congress. But the sequence itself — a purchase timed to a
blowout earnings day, disclosed publicly three weeks before an index inclusion
nobody could have guaranteed, sitting inside a sector this newsletter has
flagged as structurally squeezed on power capacity — is exactly the kind of
pattern that keeps congressional trading disclosures a permanent fixture of
market-moving news, whatever the underlying intent actually was.
