As the midterms draw closer and Republican fortunes sour, endangered politicians like Texas Governor Greg Abbott are getting more and more desperate in their attempts to stave off defeat.
With no accomplishments to run on and a country in total crisis thanks to Republican corruption and incompetence, the GOP is resorting to its old tricks: anti-LGBTQ bigotry and accusations of “wokeness.”
But Greg Abbott’s Democratic challenger, Gina Hinojosa, just showed the entire country how to properly defuse these kinds of attacks with a simple but powerful new ad.

“They want to run an entire campaign saying that I'm too woke. Let's roll. I plan to spend an entire campaign focused on the fact that working people are too broke. That's the difference. I'm Gina Hinojosa. My pronouns are mom, Texan, and soon-to-be governor!” says Gina in her new ad.
Boom.
Quick and to the point. No getting lost in arguments, and crucially, no denials or apologies for past statements. No distancing. No making it look like you did something wrong.
Just move on, maintain message discipline, and make it clear that Greg Abbott is just saying this nonsense because he doesn’t have anything else to run on.
Complaining about trans people isn’t going to lower gas prices. Whining about DEI isn’t going to lower rent. Screaming woke isn’t going to stop the AI data center from being built in your backyard.
Now let’s make history, and make Gina Hinojosa the next governor of Texas.
