A whistle-blower has dropped an explosive new allegation that the United States Postal Service is making "secretive, rushed" attempts to implement Trump's executive order to federalize vote-by-mail, despite a judge blocking the plans.1
These plans could prevent tens of millions of eligible voters from casting their ballots through the mail. And the timing couldn't be worse, sowing deep confusion ahead of the November midterm elections.2
This comes on the heels of Trump's attempt to exert deeper control over the Postal Service and our elections by nominating four Republicans—three of whom have echoed his conspiracy theories about the 2020 election results—to the USPS Board of Governors.3
Trump already meddled in the appointment of our current postmaster general. The Senate cannot allow him to escalate any attempts to suppress vote-by-mail and control the USPS. Sign the petition now to block these nominees from weaponizing the USPS against us!
Here's what's at stake: Trump wants to build a national list of citizens and require the USPS to only send ballots to those on the list while directing states to abide by certain mail-ballot design and tracking requirements.4 There are two issues with this: One, states control our elections, not Trump; and two, states have warned that doing this accurately is nearly impossible.
The desired outcome is blatant: An untold number of eligible voters would be purged from the voter files.5

Trump is quietly pushing through nominations for a lesser-known, yet powerful position—the United States Postal Service (USPS) Board of Governors.6
Just weeks before signing an executive order directing the USPS to determine who can vote by mail, he nominated four Republicans to fill vacancies on the board—breaking a longstanding tradition of bipartisan nominations. And the Senate could vote on them as soon as September.7
Of Trump's four nominations to the board, three have openly expressed doubts about the results of the 2020 elections.8
Trump is doing everything in his power to suppress voter turnout ahead of the midterms. Sign the petition calling on the Senate to block his nominations NOW.
Trump is pushing through these nominations while directing the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to build a nationalized list of citizenships and require the USPS to direct states to abide by certain mail-ballot design and tracking requirements.9
That means USPS would manage a list of "eligible voters" and mandate that postal workers can deliver ballots only to people on that list.10 These lists run a real risk of purging eligible voters from receiving ballots, with states warning that they will not be accurate.11
This latest power grab, which would entirely reshape the leadership of the USPS, is part of a broader strategy of this administration to upend our elections to control the outcome.
Free and fair elections, without interference, are the bedrock of American democracy. Tell the Senate to block Trump's power grab and protect our democracy!
Under Trump's fascist rule, USPS has also proposed a rule to refuse to deliver vote-by-mail ballots in states that do not turn over voter rolls to the DHS.12 This would be a major blow to states with a Democratic majority and could lead to millions of suppressed votes.
The Board of Governors acts just like a board for a private company—overseeing the strategic direction and long-term goals of the USPS. Our postal service has a mandate to provide universal service to all people and plays a critical role in delivering ballots to Americans across the country. All things Trump wants to undermine.

The White House isn't being secretive. It is sowing doubt and confusion in our election system to lay the foundation to contest this election if things don't go their way.
Senator Elissa Slotkin, who serves on the agency that oversees the USPS, put it plainly: "It is clear to me that the president is looking for people who will do exactly what he says and will carry out his order without respect for the U.S. Postal Service."13
Trump is using every arsenal at his disposal to control the outcome of this election, and we can't allow him to take full control of USPS, one of the last vestiges of a national public service.
