Kate Bolz for Congress

Hey, did you see this from the Omaha World-Herald?

Nebraska is only state not continuing emergency supplemental food assistance during pandemic

Since March, the national emergency food assistance program has helped hundreds of thousands of families. Many have been able to access healthy and fresh foods instead of surviving on packaged dinners. For the most vulnerable members of our community, it has meant the difference between eating and not eating.

All other 49 states decided to extend this program. Why hasn’t Pete Ricketts signed on?

Pete Ricketts says the coronavirus crisis is nearly over and we need to stop helping low-income families.

But for tens of thousands of Nebraskans, the coronavirus crisis is NOT over. Many are still out of work. Many drained their savings to keep their families afloat. All other 49 states acknowledge this.

The deadline for states to renew this assistance is September 10. Today is September 9.

So I am collecting signatures to demand Pete Ricketts extend food aid for Nebraska. It is unacceptable to allow families to go hungry as a political power play – and we need to make our voices heard. If you agree, please sign on:

Food access for thousands of Nebraskans is hanging by a thread. We must rise up to make our voices heard.

Sincerely,
Kate Bolz
