Message from the Chairman:

This September, Utah and America mark two sobering anniversaries: 25 years since the attacks of September 11, 2001, and one year since Charlie Kirk was killed here in Utah.

They are very different tragedies, separated by nearly a quarter century. But both confront us with a question that every generation—and ultimately every individual—must answer:

When darkness comes, what will we do next?

Earlier this summer, I stood with my children, ages 7 to 17, in the footprints of the Twin Towers. I tried—often through a knotted throat and tear-filled eyes—to explain a day I still remember vividly to children who know it only as history.

At the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, we met a docent who had served as a firefighter on September 11. Twenty-five years later, she is still serving—returning to that painful place, reliving memories that still carry heartbreak, so another generation will understand what happened and what followed.

I was deeply moved by her example.

Because the story of September 11 is not only about the lives taken by evil. It is also about the countless Americans who stepped forward afterward—to rescue strangers, comfort families, defend our country, strengthen communities, and serve their fellow man.

Last September, darkness came to Utah when Charlie Kirk was murdered at Utah Valley University. Whatever our disagreements in politics or life, violence can never be our answer. Charlie believed deeply in engaging people, defending ideas, and persuading others. The proper response to his murder is not more hatred. It is to recommit ourselves to building, serving, speaking truth, and bringing light where others would bring darkness.

Beyond the tragedies witnessed by an entire nation, every one of us will encounter our own quiet days of loss, disappointment, fear, or heartbreak. Those moments present the same choice.

Will we allow darkness to diminish us—or will we rise above it?

We must choose to build rather than destroy. To nurture rather than neglect. To grow rather than wither. To serve rather than retreat. And when the world around us feels particularly dark, we must become more determined to bring light into it.

This September, I hope we remember those whose lives were taken on 9/11 and learn from the life of Charlie Kirk. But I also hope we honor the firefighters, police officers, servicemen and women, families, neighbors, volunteers, and ordinary citizens who responded to tragedy by giving more of themselves to others.

Memorials should do more than remind us of what happened. They should remind us of who we are obligated to become.

I believe Utahns—and Americans—are capable of rising above hatred, tragedy, and darkness. Our country needs us to. Our communities need us to. Our families need us to.

May we have the courage to answer that call with goodness, service, and faith. If we stay true to the American soul, even our darkest days can call forth greater light.

As Utah’s political landscape shifts with new voters moving to in to our state and a growing number of voters registering as "unaffiliated," the battle for conservative values will be won or lost in the middle. While left leaning movements actively court these voters, many of them share our core principles of fiscal responsibility, limited government, and individual liberty—they just haven't officially aligned with the Utah GOP yet. To bridge this gap, the Utah GOP is launching a targeted direct-mail campaign designed specifically for new movers and unaffiliated voters across key districts.

Unaffiliated voters represent one of the fastest-growing segments of the electorate in Utah, and they are often exhausted by the direction of national progressive policies. They care deeply about economic stability, property rights, lower taxes, and strong local communities—the very pillars of the Utah Republican platform. Furthermore, because Utah GOP primaries are closed, these voters need clear, timely guidance on how they can participate in electing our candidates by affiliating with the party.

Our proposed mailer is designed to cut through the noise of digital clutter and land directly on kitchen tables. It will feature a direct message highlighting our commitment to fiscal responsibility, education on the issues contrasting common-sense conservative solutions with runaway government spending, and a clear call to action on how unaffiliated voters can make their voices heard by engaging with the Utah GOP.

As we approach the fall midterm elections, it’s more important than ever to remember the guiding principles of faith, family freedom, and the values set forth in our Constitution.

Only 18 months into President Trump‘s term, the accomplishments of this administration are truly exceptional. Whether we are talking about reestablishing America’s energy independence, shutting down “learing” centers and cutting welfare fraud, reduced crime, enforcement of our immigration law, or returning manufacturing to American shores to provide good jobs for our communities, the list of real accomplishments of the Trump administration is as stunning as the speed at which they have been achieved. It is easy to forget where we were two years ago under Biden Harris after three years of Democrat control. Covid school closures, runaway Covid relief spending, forced vaccines, promotion of gender transition surgeries and cross-sex hormones on our children, and an open border with millions of undocumented migrants and deadly fentanyl flooding in.

The mainstream media wants us to forget how much better off we are under Republican policies. As Republicans we frequently disagree with each other. Let’s not forget the principles that guide us and lead to better government for our communities, state and country. If the Democrats gain control of the US House of Representatives, we can expect the next two years to be known in history as a time when impeachment and smear campaigns undermined any effective policy, when the ability of Washington to govern was lost.

We have the opportunity now to change that outcome. We have principled Republican Candidates running for the US Congress, Utah state Legislature and Utah Senate, along with county level positions. Be sure to check with your county Republican Party for opportunities to knock doors, make phone calls, and help your candidates win. I will be walking a parade on Labor Day with Republican candidates for our state legislature. If you are in a solid red county, consider how you can support candidates in purple areas who can win with more help.

Throughout August, the Party remained focused on strengthening organizational operations and building momentum across the state. We continued close coordination with county parties, the RNC, and Republican candidates while preparing for the upcoming general election. This week, the Party will host its Midterm Convention, bringing delegates together to conduct party business and prepare for the months ahead. We also held our Q3 State Central Committee (SCC) Meeting, providing an opportunity to discuss party priorities, organizational updates, and preparations for the upcoming election season.

A few highlights from this month:

- Hosted an August luncheon bringing together key leaders from Utah’s congressional offices to discuss federal strategy, Utah’s priorities, and the work happening on Capitol Hill.
- Coordinated closely with the RNC in preparation for the upcoming primary election
- Supported Republican candidates by helping strengthen their campaigns, improve campaign readiness, and expand voter engagement efforts.
- Strengthened internal organization and collaboration with county parties across the state
- Hosted the September Luncheon featuring @datarepublican where she discussed pulling back the curtain on federal funds, unaccountable NGO spending and runaway government waste.  
- Held the Q3 State Central Committee (SCC) Meeting to discuss party operations, statewide priorities, and preparations for the upcoming election season.
