Today’s Big Picture

Today’s stories underscore the ongoing fight for election integrity, national security, and accountability against both foreign adversaries and domestic institutional overreach.

The Trump DOJ is rightly asking the Supreme Court to unblock the expanded SAVE database, which links Social Security and citizenship records to verify voter eligibility and block ineligible aliens from benefits— a common-sense tool lower courts have halted at the behest of left-wing groups, jeopardizing the midterms.

Escalating U.S.-Iran hostilities saw American forces destroy five more Iranian oil tankers funding the IRGC after failed missile attacks on U.S. ships, while Iran’s retaliatory strikes on vessels and a futile missile barrage on Jordan (mostly intercepted) pushed oil past $100; this is the price of confronting a terrorist regime that has long threatened shipping and allies.

Declassified FBI notes from the Flynn interview further expose discrepancies with the official 302 report that underpinned his prosecution, reinforcing long-standing concerns about a politicized bureau that altered records and targeted Trump associates in the Russia probe.

Meanwhile, the limits of progressive “compassion” are on full display in coverage of the Lindsay Clancy mistrial, where some jurors and advocates show more empathy for the mother accused of killing her children than for the victims themselves—a stark reminder that justice, not selective sympathy, should prevail.

China continues its systematic theft of American AI technology through industrial-scale “knowledge distillation” by firms like DeepSeek and Alibaba, extracting billions of tokens from U.S. models with Beijing’s apparent blessing, threatening American leadership in a critical domain.

And the State Department’s updated Peru travel advisory flags real dangers—violent crime, express kidnappings, terrorism risks in certain regions, and deadly drugs like ayahuasca that have killed or assaulted Americans—warning travelers that even popular destinations demand vigilance against lawlessness that soft-on-crime policies elsewhere only encourage.
