Hi John,

LEGAL, an LGBTIQ organization in Liberia, used to pay outreach workers to carry HIV medication to people’s homes. Funding cuts ended that, and LEGAL links the interruption in treatment to deaths in its community.

In Chile, Movilh has historically handled more than 90% of the country’s reported cases of anti-LGBTIQ discrimination. Since the funding cuts in August 2025, it has run its free legal, psychological, and peer support on volunteers.

Both organizations appear in Breaking Point: The Urgent Need to Invest in Global LGBTIQ Movements ([link removed] ) , the report we publish this Thursday. Of the 229 organizations we surveyed across 94 countries, 203 had lost funding.

say they are likely to close within the next year

describe themselves as stable

The cuts have landed where the need is greatest. In countries with the least impartial justice systems, the most widespread discrimination, and the hardest living conditions, organizations were two to three times more likely to be affected.

Outright’s researchers will present the findings alongside four leaders of the organizations working through the funding cuts.
