The Trump administration and ICE have been locking up families and
unaccompanied children — and now they’re trying to open another inhumane
detention facility.
Urge Congress to stop the opening of any more detention centers, end the
cruelty of family detention, and SHUT DOWN every facility across the country.

Dear Jack: ICE is attempting to open another cruel detention facility for
unaccompanied children and families in Alexandria, Louisiana.
But work on this new facility has been stalled — giving us a small and urgent
window to put pressure on Congress to stop it from being built at all.

Families with children, including infants, are already suffering at the Dilley
detention center in Texas, currently the only family detention facility in the
U.S.
At Dilley, children have experienced alarming weight loss, been denied medical
care, and been subjected to lasting trauma. Children are routinely being held
beyond the legal limit of 20 days. One child detained at Dilley shared these
harrowing words that say it all:
“This prolonged detention has and continues to destroy our lives… It is slowly
killing us on the inside.”
Our people-power successfully ended family detention during the Biden
administration.
We must do it again. We need all hands on deck to prevent another cruel and
abusive facility from opening. Fight back by adding your name to our petition
to Congress.

ICE wants to put this facility in military barracks next to Alexandria
International Airport, which is the agency’s busiest mass deportation hub. It’s
all part of their plan to dehumanize more people — warehousing them, locking
them up in inhumane conditions, and destroying families.
And even more, this will be the first ICE facility to detain unaccompanied
children.
It’s not too late to prevent this from happening. Amnesty relentlessly fought
to shut down Alligator Alcatraz, and we won. We’ll continue investigating and
exposing the abuses, and we need your voice today.
Help block the construction of the Alexandria detention facility and stop the
cruelty of family detention once and for all.
