ICE has killed people. It has wrongfully detained people. It has terrorized families and communities across this country.
And now the Trump administration wants to give its agents electric shock gloves.
DHS awarded a nearly $17 million no-bid contract for 6,000 gloves designed to deliver painful electric shocks with the touch of a hand.
The manufacturer itself warns against using these devices on children, pregnant women, elderly people, and people with disabilities. Its own manual warns of potentially dangerous effects on the heart.
And this is what Trump wants to put into the hands of ICE.
We cannot let this happen.

Last week, I led 49 of my colleagues in demanding that DHS cancel this contract. Now, I'm taking the next step.
I've joined Rep. Madeleine Dean to introduce the No Shock Act, legislation that would prohibit these devices from being used in immigration enforcement.
This isn't about one horrifying weapon. It's about an agency that has repeatedly been given more money, more weapons, and more authority while facing far too little accountability for the harm it causes.
I'm not going to wait for another person to be hurt before taking action.
ICE doesn't need electric shock gloves. DHS doesn't need another weapon to use against our communities.
We need to Melt ICE. We need to dismantle DHS. And we need an immigration system rooted in dignity, due process, and human rights.
