This month, we launched our 2025 Annual Report, honored the humanitarian workers who show up even in the most dire conditions, and heard from women navigating crisis on every continent. Here's what your support made possible in August:

When Radyyia arrived at a displacement camp in Sudan, she was exhausted and heavily pregnant with her eleventh child. Shortly after her arrival, her labor began—but something was wrong. The painful contractions lasted an entire day before Radyyia called a UNFPA midwife. The midwife, Safya, came immediately.

Safya had been keeping a register of every pregnant woman in the camp, traveling to those who didn't come to her to check in. She recognized at once that Radyyia's labor was high-risk and arranged an immediate referral to the maternity hospital. There, Radyyia delivered safely. Both mother and baby are healthy today. In the days that followed, Safya visited them every two days to check in and ensure Radyyia was healing properly.

“I don’t take risks with their lives. Whenever I identify a complicated case, I arrange for an immediate referral,” Safya shared.

When U.S. funding for UNFPA was abruptly eliminated at the beginning of 2025, you didn't hesitate. You stepped in to fill the sudden funding gaps, determined to keep care steady for every woman and girl. Together, we safely delivered 749,000 babies in humanitarian crises, prevented 38,000 maternal deaths , and reached millions more with the sexual and reproductive services they needed. Gaza’s humanitarian workers are still showing up: Through heat, through scarcity, through everything [[link removed]]

Nearly three years into the war in Gaza , every new season brings a fresh wave of danger to those displaced. During the winter, they shivered through cold, wet days in tents not built to retain heat. During the summer, the sweltering heat has turned displacement tents into ovens. But through it all, UNFPA's midwives, nurses, and logistics officers stay on the ground, even though many are displaced themselves. Meet some of the humanitarians delivering care through Gaza, no matter the season or circumstance.

On August 19, we honored the people who deliver care in the world's most dangerous places—the midwives, drivers, and health workers who show up even when they're living through the same crises as the people they serve. In a new video, we highlight workers like Mahmoud in Gaza, Hager in Sudan, and Francine in the DRC, and what it takes to keep care going when the stakes are highest.

August is Make-a-Will Month, a reminder that one of the most enduring ways to support the causes you believe in costs nothing today. When Mary D. Lindsay helped found USA for UNFPA, she named us in her will, starting what would later be called the Mary D. Lindsay Legacy Society. Reflecting on her decision to include us in her will, she shared: "I simply can't imagine a more rewarding way to be remembered."
