The Senate race in Michigan is set. Dr. Abdul El-Sayed will be facing off against Mike Rogers -- who we’ve defeated for Senate once and will again soon.
The Candidate -- Abdul El-Sayed
Abdul El-Sayed was born and raised in Michigan, attended the University of Michigan, and has dedicated his career to fixing the broken system that is hurting Michiganders.
He served as the Director of Detroit’s Health Department, where he helped rebuild the health care infrastructure in Michigan’s largest city. He secured glasses for students, removed lead from schools, and cancelled millions in medical debt for Michiganders. Abdul has always remained dedicated to using public office to fight for people in vulnerable communities.
In the Senate, he will work to lower costs, expand health care access, and take power back from billionaires who are attempting to buy our elections.
Michigan helped build the American Dream, so it’s important to elect a senator who will fight to preserve it. Mike Rogers is a sellout who will throw his constituents under the bus to please Donald Trump, which is why we cannot let him get elected to the Senate. The Opponent -- Mike Rogers
Abdul El-Sayed is fighting for working people. Mike Rogers is fighting for himself.
Rogers has a long record of corrupt and self-serving politics. In Congress, Rogers was a champion for Big Pharma and a leading advocate for boosting access to opioids, as the industry donated more than $1 million to his campaigns and PACs. His record of threatening access to affordable health care doesn’t stop there -- Rogers even voted against the Affordable Care Act, which has provided health insurance to tens of millions of Americans, including nearly half a million Michiganders. And after carrying water for his special interest donors, more than a decade ago Rogers left Congress. He abandoned Michigan and went through the revolving door, got rich, and bought a massive mansion in… Florida.
Now, Rogers is looking to go back to Washington -- not to fight for Michiganders, but to do the bidding of Donald Trump and rubber stamp his price-hiking agenda.
He’s supportive of Trump’s chaotic tariffs, which have sent grocery prices soaring.
He’s supportive of Trump’s war in Iran, which has pushed gas prices up across Michigan.
He’s even dismissive of Michiganders’ economic pain, saying: “We’re gonna be fine. We’ve got plenty of oil,” and said people who are worried about rising costs have “Trump derangement.”
He’s Price Hike Mike.
Rogers has thrown his complete support behind Trump -- and he’s even starting to sound like him too, election denialism and all!
Reporting from The New York Times claims that Mike Rogers is an “election skeptic [ [link removed] ]” who is “toeing the MAGA line [ [link removed] ]” as he “suggest[s] that voting irregularities sank his Senate bid two years ago [ [link removed] ]” -- despite not being able to provide “any evidence to back up his claim [ [link removed] ].”
The election wasn’t stolen; Rogers knows that. But it won’t stop him from doing whatever he can to gain power for himself -- sound familiar? Rogers lost before, even in a more favorable environment for Republicans, and will lose again in November because he’s out of touch with Michigan voters and they know he will sell them out the first chance he gets.
Bottom line: Price Hike Mike is spending more time capitulating to Trump than advocating for Michiganders. Just imagine what he would do if he’s elected to the Senate. With your help, we can make sure that never happens.

The Forecast
Price Hike Mike is shamefully dismissing voters’ economic pain because he’s more concerned about delivering for his special interest donors and himself than standing up for hardworking Michigan families who are paying record-high gas prices and are being slammed by the effects of tariffs. In November, Michigan voters will reject him.
NBC News: “[This] race in November is expected to be one of the most competitive in the country, and it could determine which party controls the Senate.”
Associated Press: “El-Sayed will face Republican Mike Rogers, a former congressman, in November in a race that will help determine control of the Senate.”
Michigan is going to be home to one of the most competitive Senate elections this cycle. Let’s take a moment to see what the polling is saying about Democrats’ chances.
The Polls
The polling can’t get much closer than this! But the contrast couldn’t be starker:
Mike Rogers would be yet another rubber stamp for Donald Trump’s extreme, price-hiking agenda.
Abdul El-Sayed is inspiring thousands of Michiganders across the state, with a clear focus on lowering costs and standing up for working families.
We’re running out of time until Election Day, so it’s important to use every second we have to ensure we flip the Senate in November. And if we want any chance of doing that, we must also fight to hold seats like Michigan.
This will require everyone to step up because, unlike Republicans, we can’t just rely on billionaire backers. We count on grassroots supporters who are able to give whatever they can to help elect Senate Democrats.
Michigan was home to the NARROWEST Democratic Senate win in 2024, and things are shaping up to be close once again this year. But we have the momentum and the energy on our side.
