As you know, millions of older Americans are struggling during the coronavirus pandemic. And compounding this crisis are changes at the U.S. Postal Service which have reduced its service reliability and efficiency.
At a time when many of our members and supporters rely on the Postal Service for the timely delivery of prescription drugs to remain healthy and Social Security checks to pay their bills, there is no excuse for tampering with this vital lifeline that serves all Americans. That’s why we’re calling on the Senate to vote on the House-passed "Delivering for America Act" (H.R. 8015 / S. 4527), which would prohibit the U.S. Postal Service from implementing changes that would harm its service during the coronavirus pandemic.
With so much at stake, your voice must be heard NOW — before this bad situation gets worse! So please, sign our Official Petition to your U.S. Senators — and urge them to support the "Delivering for America Act." In this time of unprecedented crisis — and in this critical election year — your voice matters more than ever!
There have reports of older Americans not receiving the medications they need. In fact, in one reported case, an 82-year-old Texas man was without his heart medication for a week due to USPS delivery delays. And today more than 500,000 beneficiaries rely on the Postal Service to receive their Social Security benefit checks, so it’s a serious matter when mail is delayed. Thankfully Postal Service workers sounded the alarm on the damaging changes that were causing massive delivery delays.
With so much at stake during this uncertain time for our country, we must ensure this issue is addressed by our elected officials immediately. That's why I urge you to sign our Official Petition to Congress today and let your U.S. Senators know that you expect them to act to protect the integrity of our Postal Service. We need to hear from you ASAP!
