John Curtis is ready
to tackle climate change
Utah Congressman John Curtis is among the growing number of Republicans currently speaking up on the need to tackle climate change, and he expressed that view in a virtual town hall meeting hosted by CCL volunteers earlier this year. His comments are featured in a new CCL video. "If [Republicans] don't take a seat at the table, can we really complain about the discussion at the table? Can we really expect to recruit and retain the upcoming generation of Republicans if we can't look them in the eye when we talk about the Earth? This is a Republican bread-and-butter issue. We care about the Earth. Now let's show it," said Curtis. Rep. Curtis’ participation in the town hall is a great example of the relationships CCL volunteers build with Republican members of Congress that lead to them making climate change a priority. Other news this week: Delaney on CCE board: Former Congressman and presidential candidate John Delaney has joined the governing board of Citizens’ Climate Education. "While serving in Congress, John reached across the aisle to find the common ground where problems like climate change can be solved. He's a great fit for our organization,” said CCL Executive Director Mark Reynolds. Check out his profile on CCE’s website. CLC’s Ted Halstead dies: The President and CEO of the Climate Leadership Council, Ted Halstead, died in a hiking accident last week. His organization has brought together an impressive coalition of conservatives and businesses to champion their “Carbon Dividends” policy to price carbon. “He spoke at Citizens’ Climate Lobby conferences several times,” said CCL’s Mark Reynolds in a statement. “Ted’s leadership and optimistic vision have done so much to bring conservative thought leaders to the table on climate change.” Read more in this CCL Community post. |
