Yes: House Republicans have officially canceled all votes for the last two weeks of the working session before the midterm elections — essentially packing up, going home, and squandering the chance to pass legislation that could actually improve the lives of the American people.
Meanwhile, one in three Americans can’t afford health insurance. Food assistance has been yanked away from children and families. Grocery bills are high, and our food supply is less safe. Rural hospitals are closing their doors, leaving more Americans without access to care. And the job market is terrible for most Americans, with wages not keeping pace with inflation, while Trump and his family pocket billions of dollars from their grifting and corruption.
House Republicans are so dysfunctional that they can’t bring themselves to even attempt governing.
You would think that since they control all branches of government in Washington, the GOP would use that power to get things done and make things better for the people who voted them into office.
Instead, they’ve decided to use that power to give tax cuts to the wealthy, gut public health programs, and terrorize immigrant communities.
This situation cannot stand.
I came to Congress to work. That’s what my constituents expect me to do — and that’s what I’ll keep doing, with or without Republican cooperation.
