That’s why Run for Something is proud to have endorsed union members across the country this year, including Adrian Reyna, who’s running for the Texas State House.
Adrian is a third-generation (!!) public educator, local union leader, and U.S. History teacher. For 15 years, he has fought for working-class families in and out of the classroom—helping secure jobs for teachers when schools closed and winning higher wages for educators. |

He knows what his community is up against because he lives it too: listening every day to parents, students, teachers, and workers tired of politicians who talk about families, then fail to fight for them.
That is exactly the kind of leadership we need in office.

Union members running for office these days don’t all look like what you see in the movies.
They are teachers, doctors, tenant organizers, public servants, caregivers, and workers of every background. What they share is a commitment to solidarity, dignity, fairness, and fighting for the people who keep our communities running. For example: |

Aparna Raj is a tenant organizer, union member, and daughter of immigrants who won her primary for DC Council earlier this year and is now competing in the general. She has organized tenants to take on landlords, fight slum conditions, and win restitution. She has served on her unit’s bargaining committee, fought to raise the tipped minimum wage, and walked picket lines. |

Dr. Alexis Hoffkling is a family doctor, educator, union member, and progressive Democrat. She’s running for the Colorado House of Representatives, where she would be the first openly trans person elected from the district. As a doctor, she learns directly from patients who are uninsured or on Medicaid—and sees every day how public policy shows up in people’s lives. |
