Taiwan Indicted a Senior Nvidia Manager for Allegedly Smuggling 74 Servers of
AI Chips to China. Every Prior Case Named Someone Outside the Company.

Taiwanese prosecutors indicted a senior Nvidia manager, identified only by his
surname Chang, along with eight others, according to Bloomberg — the group
allegedly organized the smuggling of74 servers containing high-end B300 chips
into China, routed through Japan and Indonesia to circumvent US export
restrictions. It marks Taiwan's first known criminal case targeting the
black-market trade in advanced AI accelerators, and the first instance in the
broader wave of chip-smuggling prosecutions this year — spanning the US,
Singapore, and now Taiwan — to name a current Nvidia employee as a defendant
rather than an outside logistics operator or independent broker.

The case lands alongside a parallel US investigation into Singapore-based Apex
Logistics, a unit of Swiss shipping giant Kuehne+Nagel, which the Bureau of
Industry and Security is examining over 47 shipments allegedly used to route
Super Micro servers containing Nvidia chips through Southeast Asia to Hong Kong
and ultimately China. Separate US prosecutions this year, in Houston, Tampa,
and New York, have charged individuals and shell companies — including one
Tampa-based operation using a company called Janford Realtor LLC as a front —
running similar schemes; a Financial Times analysis found more than $1 billion
worth of Nvidia chips reached China in just the three months after the
administration's tightened 2025 export controls.
