John,

Growing up in Naperville, one of the things I loved most was how close-knit our community was. It was the kind of place where neighbors looked out for one another, families gathered for weekend activities, and everyone took pride in building a safe, welcoming town for our kids.

That spirit hasn't changed. Every single day across Illinois, I get to see the dedicated people who keep our communities running. From the nurses providing compassionate care in our hospitals to the teachers guiding our children, the small business owners driving our local economy, and the tradespeople building our infrastructure — our working families are the heart of everything we accomplish.

Labor Day is about more than just a long weekend or the end of summer. It’s a moment to honor that dedication, reflect on the dignity of hard work, and reaffirm our commitment to supporting the people who get the job done every single day.

I’m so grateful for the work you do to make our neighborhood a place where families can thrive.

Whether you're spending today firing up the grill, enjoying a parade, or simply taking some well-deserved time off with your loved ones, I hope you have a safe, joyful, and restful holiday.

Thank you for being such an important part of our community.
