Happy Labor Day,
John!

Today is a chance for us to honor the hardworking people who fought for
the protections we rely on—from the 40-hour workweek and the minimum wage
to basic workplace safeguards.

We also know we still have a long way to go before our work is finished.
For too many families, the promise of the middle class is slipping away.
People who work hard and play by the rules shouldn’t have their budgets
stretched thin just to afford the basics.

Your job should allow you to put food on the table and keep a roof over
your head. We should have affordable child care so young people don’t have
to choose between starting a family or having a career. And healthcare
must be guaranteed for all, so no one is denied care when they need it.

Here’s what I want you to remember this Labor Day: we can win these things
if we build a movement strong enough to demand them. We don’t have to put
up with a small group of billionaires and corporations running the show.
Our government can, and should, work for working people.

This year, I’m focused on electing candidates who will prioritize the
needs of working families in Washington. But to help them win, I need you
in this fight.
