Happy Labor Day!

Today I’m thinking about the hard work labor unions and working people
across our country have put in to get us where we are — and about all the
work we still need to do to secure a better future.

Just think: Without the labor movement, we wouldn’t have the weekend,
child labor laws, and so much more.

I can remember working my first job, where I was part of a group of
employees who voted to unionize. That decision led to better pay and
benefits almost immediately. That experience shaped who I am today and how
I lead, because I’ve seen firsthand how the freedom to organize transforms
lives and makes our economy fairer.

I’m proud that in the State Senate and now in Congress, I’ve worked hard
to support unions and deliver for working families.

But while working people are doing everything they can to get ahead,
Donald Trump and Republican politicians are doing everything they can to
pull us backward — raising prices, gutting Medicaid, and handing more
power to billionaires.

That’s why I promise to keep fighting back and showing up for working
people — and I’m so grateful to have you with me in this fight.
