All 125 State House seats in Kansas are on the ballot this year.
Hi John,
In this year’s midterm election, the Swing Left community is working to help Democrats in Kansas elect a Democratic governor and flip the critical State House seats that are needed to break the GOP supermajority in the chamber and protect a key congressional district.
Kansas is facing a crossroads this November. With Democratic Governor Laura Kelly term-limited, Republicans are determined to seize back the governorship and regain absolute control over a state where they already hold a legislative supermajority.
If Republicans hold their supermajority and win the governor's office, they will have unchecked power to push through an extreme agenda—including potentially gerrymandering the 3rd Congressional District to eliminate Democratic U.S. Representative Sharice Davids’s seat. We can’t allow that to happen.
That’s why we have a clear strategy: elect Democrat Cindy Holscher as Governor and flip just five seats in the Kansas House to break the veto-proof Republican supermajority.
All 125 House seats are on the ballot this year, and just five close districts could determine whether Republicans retain the ability to push forward with a partisan gerrymander and other extreme bills.
Winning those races, alongside keeping a Democrat in the governor’s office, would instead give Kansas Democrats a critical check on Republican power and preserve Rep. Sharice David’s seat in Congress.
