Hi John, this is Ramón with the Sunrise Movement.
Recent climate news has been weighing on me deeply. From Nepal’s devastating glacier collapse to Gary Indiana suffering a blackout for two weeks, it’s clear that the climate crisis is escalating out of control, and we’re running out of time to address it.
That’s why, with 2028 right around the corner, Sunrise is making plans now for how we take back our government and win a Green New Deal. And right now, our path to a Green New Deal hinges on three key races in this fall’s midterms.
Help win a pathway to the Green New Deal.

We just finished throwing down for our largest primary slate ever…and we won BIG. From Melat Kiros in Colorado to Darializa Avila Chevalier in NYC and Will Lawrence in Michigan, we helped progressives sweep Democratic primaries all across the country.
We won because our message is resonating with voters across the political spectrum: everyday Americans are fed up with corruption and want a government that serves working people — not billionaire donors. Every time we managed to cut through the well-funded corporate lies to tell voters about our candidates, we won decisively.
Nevertheless, despite our primary victories, the anti-Trump coalition is still wide and unstructured, without clear leaders. The populist left is gaining power and notoriety, but we’re still battling against a decades-old narrative that progressives “can’t win in swing states.”
We know this is B.S., but we MUST prove our case. If we lose our races in swing districts this fall, we’ll have an uphill battle claiming that progressive Green New Deal champions can lead the Democratic party to victory in 2028 — and we’ll likely be stuck with do-nothing corporate Democrats who have failed to defeat Trump or pass aggressive climate legislation.
This fall, we’re throwing everything we have at three crucial races, and we need your help:
* Will Lawrence is a Sunrise Movement co-founder who’s running on an anti-data center platform in MI-07, a deep purple district. If Will wins, we prove that Green New Deal politics can re-shape the electorate by winning over Democrats and Republicans, along with swing voters and non-voters.
* Abdul El-Sayed is a former Sunrise board member who is bringing fierce populist left politics to Michigan’s Senate race. His battle against Republican Mike Rogers is a closely-watched showdown to determine, for many, whether progressives can win in swing states.
* Justin Pearson is a community organizer and Green New Deal champion who is running in a contested, deeply gerrymandered Memphis district. It’s one thing for progressives to win in New York City – it’s something different for them to win in Tennessee. Pearson can prove that Green New Deal politics can win over working people in the South.

Make no mistake: billionaire donors and the politicians they buy out (both Republicans and many establishment Democrats) want us to lose. They will throw every dollar they can spare into ad buys and smear campaigns aimed at confusing voters about who will actually fight for them against corporate greed.
But the primaries proved that when we throw down, Sunrise can cut through the noise and tell voters the truth. Our phonebank program is a juggernaut that wins races:
* We made 95,000 dials for Will Lawrence (42% of his total campaign dials) – pushing him over the finish line.
* We made 180,000 dials for Melat Kiros (36% of total dials) and 77,000 for Chris Rabb (62% of total dials). Both of them are headed to Congress.
We MUST win in Michigan and Tennessee this fall, but our races are all neck and neck. To do it, we need your help to go even bigger than we did during the primaries.
Will you join us for our first phonebank tomorrow, to kick off our general election campaign? [[link removed]]
See you tomorrow,
Ramón
