Maine’s GOP nominee for Governor, Bobby Charles, said at a meeting of the Maine Young Republicans that he plans to ask Trump “Border Czar” Tom Homan to deploy ICE agents at polling places “three or four weeks” before the election.

According to the Bangor Daily News, Charles said in an audio recording: “I’m going to ask Tom — three or four weeks before the election, maybe three — I’m going to make an appeal for ICE and marshals to be at our voting booths.” 

Charles may be the first major Republican nominee to openly call for ICE to patrol polling places this November. But he won’t be the last.

Defend Our Courts has been warning of the MAGA plot to rig, steal, and cheat their way back to power after the midterm election for over a year. 

And in that time, we have taken crucial steps to safeguard election results in crucial swing states like Pennsylvania, where our grassroots-funded operation was instrumental in re-electing three Democratic state supreme court justices and retaining a 5-2 Dem majority on the PA Supreme Court. 

We fight for state judges because too many other organizations fail to focus on key judicial races that make an outsized impact on our lives. From abortion rights to voting rights, the work we do to elect judges that vow to uphold the Constitution and NOT serve Trump has literally saved lives and preserved freedom. 

But this midterm we can’t rely solely on judges to save the election results when Trump has already shown he is willing to send the FBI to seize ballots. We need to make this midterm election so big and so bad for MAGA that Trump won’t be able to steal it.
