I'm furious, John.
Trump has spent this entire election cycle attacking vote-by-mail — a method that over a third of Americans use — to restrict who can receive mail-in ballots.
And last week, the Supreme Court cleared the way for him to continue gutting mail-in voting protections.
It’s two months before the midterms. Ballots are already on their way to voters' mailboxes in some states.
This is completely unacceptable. It’s authoritarian overreach, plain and simple.
John, mail-in voting is safe, secure, and has been used by millions of Americans for generations. Contrary to the falsehoods this administration is peddling, there is no evidence of widespread fraud in our mail-in voting system. Period.
Let’s be clear on what this is really about: Trump doesn’t hate mail-in voting because he’s concerned about the security of our elections. He hates it because it works.
It lets people vote on their schedule — while they’re working, caring for their families, and living their lives. It raises voter turnout by putting a ballot directly into the hands of every voter so everyone has a chance to participate in our democracy.
And that is bad for Trump and his MAGA allies because their policies are wildly unpopular — and voting is how we fight back. Against this administration’s dangerous authoritarian agenda, against ICE, against every cruel attack they throw at our communities.
That is what they’re afraid of. Our power when we are organized, connected, and showing up at the ballot box in numbers they cannot suppress.
I will never stop fighting to protect our right to vote. I will continue to stand up against this administration as they try to weaponize our courts, our postal service, and our election system to stay in power.
But I can’t do it alone. The stakes couldn’t be higher, and I need you standing alongside me in this fight.
