John,
Just read this quote from Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson’s dissenting opinion in the mail-in voting case, in which the conservative majority allowed Donald Trump’s assault on mail-in voting to go forward:
“This ruling violates well-established precedents … and needlessly injects chaos and uncertainty into the upcoming midterm elections.”
Let’s be honest: The chaos and uncertainty are the point. Trump and his allies want us to worry. They want voters to be scared. They want people to give in to cynicism and decide participating in our elections isn’t worth it.
Our job is to ensure that their shameful strategy fails — to make sure access to the ballot is protected and that voters know how to exercise their rights.
Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson’s dissent is a rallying cry to defend democracy. Will you step up with a donation to help protect voting rights and fair representation, no matter what this administration tries to do? [[link removed]]
Trump’s team thinks that when fewer people vote, the better the GOP’s chances of winning. (Sad!) So they’re doing everything in their power to try to keep people from the polls.
When the first Trump administration tried to abuse the U.S. Postal Service to influence the 2020 election, this movement took them to court — and we won.
We aren’t going to let them intimidate us. And we sure as hell aren’t going to let them keep us from ensuring the will of the people prevails on November 3rd.
With these attacks on our rights coming from the highest levels of power, our work is even more urgent. The fair maps movement has our work cut out for us in the coming two months.
We need your help — rush in a donation and support our work to preserve democracy and block Trump’s cynical attempts to interfere with our elections: [[link removed]]
