You may not know this, but before I was a Congressman, I wore a badge.
For nearly a decade and a half, I worked in the FBI, where I trained at Quantico in the wake of the attacks on 9/11 and carried out counterterrorism missions alongside U.S. troops in Iraq.
Chasing down bad guys who preyed on innocent lives did not come with any easy answers, but it always came with a responsibility to protect: people, country, and freedom.
The mission may have changed, but the duty to serve remains the same.
Plenty of politicians have come to Congress to enrich themselves or for power and glory.
I didn’t decide to run to prove it to myself; I came to serve the American people AGAIN.
Taking the oath of office is a serious commitment, and I’m not going to shy away from representing my constituents even when it costs me personally, or my own party wishes I’d stay quiet.
That’s what I signed up for, and I’m not backing down.
Every successful mission to take down the bad guys has always depended on a team working toward the same goal.
Right now, that’s exactly what it’s going to take. A strong group of people is working alongside me to help us reach our goals.
