Hi John,
The Endangered Species Act has been slashed again.
In a brand new attack, big business will now get to pick and choose which animals and plants will have their habitat protected.
Species waiting to be protected under the Act, like wolverines, could see their home ranges unprotected and destroyed — all so big business can profit.
Please make a gift today to the Endangered Species Act Protection Fund. We’re already in court fighting for the Act — and we won't stop until this life-protecting law is safe.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's new plans will make it easier for corporate interests to block designations of critical habitat.
It's even planning to allow federal lands, including our national forests and parks, to be excluded from protection. Places once safe for endangered species could be torn apart, leading to more devastation of wildlife and risking future pandemics.
It's exactly the wrong approach.
You can't save species — and you can't stop the extinction crisis — without protecting where they live.
Species with designated critical habitat are twice as likely to recover as those without it, but this new rule guarantees less habitat will be protected.
So we're gearing up for another battle against another cruel policy.
Over the past three and a half years, it's gone after the Act again and again — threatening to destroy the bedrock conservation law that helps us win for the wild. We've countered every attack, and if these rules are finalized, we'll go to court to fight them.
Every day as many as 22 species go extinct — about one every hour. We must protect and strengthen the Act, not tear it apart.
We'll do all we can to turn back these assaults, but we can't do it alone.
Please give now to the Endangered Species Act Protection Fund.
For the wild,
