[[link removed]]Dear John,

Stand up to power with Liberty

We understand - and share - the concern people have expressed over the Prime
Minister’s move to prorogue Parliament, and the implications for debate,
deliberation and the passage of laws – which are all key features of our
democracy.

Parliamentary sovereignty is the foundational principle of our unwritten
constitution. A fundamental role of Parliament is to hold the Government to
account for its actions. Any attempt to sidestep proper democratic scrutiny
undermines the rule of law and threatens our rights and freedoms.

We are closely following developments in Parliament this week and considering
what action if any we might take, mindful of the importance of maintaining
Liberty's historic and highly valued independent, cross-party non-party status.

Thank you for your continued support.

Best Wishes,

Clare Collier

Advocacy Director
