Dear John,
I am proud to share with you that the National Urban League and the
American Jewish Committee are uniting against surging levels of
antisemitism and racism.
Starting on September 6, we will partner on a weeklong national
initiative called #BlackJewishUnity Week, followed by over two dozen
local efforts across America, to strengthen ties between our
nation's Black and Jewish communities and combat all forms of
hate.

We need your help. Please join this historic effort and:
SHOW UP for Black-Jewish programming throughout next week, including a
conversation on Tuesday, September 8 between AJC CEO David Harris and
National Urban League President and CEO Marc H. Morial, a program on
Wednesday, September 9 featuring leading voices from the Black-Jewish
community, and more. REGISTER

TAKE ACTION to combat antisemitism and all forms of racism and hate
by urging Congress to pass the NO HATE Act. According to the FBI, Jews
have long been the group most targeted by religiously-motivated hate
crimes, while African Americans are by far the most targeted for
racially-motivated crimes. TAKE ACTION NOW

This initiative represents an important new chapter in the storied
legacy of close collaboration between the Black and Jewish
communities. During the Civil Rights Movement, Jewish leaders marched
in solidarity alongside Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. and AJC-sponsored
research informed the landmark Brown v. Board of Education ruling.
During the Soviet Jewry Movement, Black leaders, including the late
congressman and AJC friend John Lewis, spoke out and took action. And
during AJC's Global Forum in 2019, the Black-Jewish
Congressional Caucus emerged as a powerful galvanizing force on
Capitol Hill.
Please join me, along with Jews and African Americans across America,
as we come together to stand against antisemitism, racism, and hate of
all kinds, showing our country and the world the power of
#BlackJewishUnity.

In solidarity,
