Tell Congress to oppose the dangerous Save Our Bacon Act.

Friend, mother pigs and other farm animals are one step closer to losing basic welfare standards.

Right now, the misleadingly named Save Our Bacon Act is moving through Congress as part of the Farm Bill. The Save Our Bacon Act condemns farm animals to extreme confinement on factory farms and to physical and emotional anguish as a result.

What’s more, the ripple effects of the Save Our Bacon Act could destroy hundreds of state laws protecting animals and addressing disease control, toxic materials, food labeling and more.

Now is a critical moment to stop this dangerous bill before it makes any more progress in Congress. But we need your help:

Send a message to your legislators to urge them to oppose any version of the Farm Bill that contains the Save Our Bacon Act.

The U.S. House of Representatives already passed their version of the Farm Bill which includes the Save Our Bacon Act. It is now up to us to stop it in the Senate or else state farm animal protection laws like California's Proposition 12 could be wiped out. This would be a victory for the worst segment of the pork industry and a major blow to voters, consumers and farmers who support a more humane food system.

States could be forced to allow the sale of products from farms that employ some of the cruelest practices in agriculture:

* Locking pregnant pigs in metal gestation crates so small that they cannot turn around.
* Confining calves used for veal in crates that virtually immobilize them.

We’re calling on lawmakers to reject this dangerous legislation that could roll back decades of hard-fought progress for animals and will inevitably make farm animals' lives worse. But we need you to add your voice before it’s too late:
