Dear John
Welcome to our latest weekly One Nation newsletter. In addition to the key news items this week, at the bottom you will find the latest episode of Pommy Tom Talks that is exclusive to subscribers of this newsletter. You will also find the latest opinion piece for our Orange Corner, One Nation blog.
Historic result in Secret Harbour!
The by-election result in Secret Harbour last weekend was a truly historic result. This was one of Labor’s safest seats in Western Australia, and we won by a country mile. Congratulations to our candidate Luke Herdegen, who was a fantastic candidate and will be a fantastic MP for Secret Harbour.
This result bursts the myth that we are only capable of taking votes from the Coalition parties. The truth is that the Liberal Party would never have been able to defeat Labor in Secret Harbour. We saw an electoral uprising driven by traditional Labor voters. Many were brought up believing that the Labor Party was there to fight for them and working-class communities. They have now smelt the coffee and realised that today’s woke Labor Party couldn’t be further from their beliefs and values. It is humbling that these voters have put their trust in One Nation, and it is vital that we dedicate ourselves to repaying that trust.
If you look at Secret Harbour and Farrer, they are two electorates that are very different. However, in both, One Nation candidates triumphed. As a party, we have a unique opportunity to build a coalition of voters across the country that will enable us to set the direction of Australia on a new course.
Thin-Skinned Labor
Rather than reflect upon why it was that thousands of lifelong Labor voters abandoned the Party, Albo and his cronies have instead responded with thin-skinned aggression. The WA Labor Premier has claimed “foreign bots” drove the result in Secret Harbour. Albo, of course, hasn’t been able to help himself and has again engaged in unhinged rhetoric regarding the rise of One Nation. In addition to this, we’ve also had the Labor Attorney-General essentially blaming One Nation figures themselves for some of the vile death threats and abuse we have been receiving from the far left. Victim blaming and gaslighting won’t work for Labor, though. They will face a reckoning all over the country like they did in Secret Harbour last weekend. The clock is ticking.
Social Media Bans
Cory Bernardi and Colleen Harkin (one of our One Nation Victoria candidates) abruptly had their social media pages pulled down by Meta (the company that runs Facebook and Instagram) this week with no explanation. Intriguingly, shortly after this happened, we were made aware of a campaign being run by woke group GetUp! to encourage their supporters to mass report our pages. We are challenging this and are confident that the pages will be back up and running soon, but it is disappointing to see Meta folding to lefty pressure campaigns like this.
The one thing that Cory and Colleen had in common was that they posted videos raising serious concerns about what is happening in our schools. The message from this seems to be that if you dare shine a spotlight on some of the radical gender ideology and political indoctrination going on in our schools, you risk being deplatformed by Meta!
Energy policy launched in Victoria
The leader of One Nation Victoria, Warren Pickering, was joined by Pauline in Victoria this week to launch our energy policy. One Nation Victoria is putting Victorians first when it comes to energy. Our energy policy will prioritise driving down the cost of living through reduced energy bills and also achieving energy security for Victoria.
One Nation Victoria will ensure that the Loy Yang coal-fired power station remains open whilst also ending the state moratorium on nuclear energy.
Interestingly, in the same week that One Nation Victoria launched its energy policy, a video of Liberal Party Victoria leader Jess Wilson came to light. The video was of her maiden speech four years ago, where she extolled the virtues of net zero and said she’d worked on climate change policy for five years before getting elected! How can you trust Liberal Party Victoria on energy when this is what their leader says?
One Nation tops Newspoll!
There are many different polls, and they move up and down. The only thing that really matters is election day. However, it was good to see us overtaking Labor again in the latest Newspoll, with the combined Liberal/National vote being 11 points behind. Newspoll is generally seen as the most reliable poll. In addition to the triumph in Secret Harbour, this should be something we can all feel positive and optimistic about.
Australian National Flag Day!
The 3rd September was Australian National Flag Day. A great opportunity to fly the flag proudly. Our One Nation Victoria candidate Colleen Harkin published a video at the University of Melbourne. Sadly, Melbourne University is one example of many organisations that seem to be ashamed of the national flag. When it comes to the main flag poles at the university, the Australian flag was nowhere to be seen. However, there was room for a range of different flags promoting niche causes and division.
One Nation stands for one flag, the Australian Flag. We love our history and we love traditional Aussie culture. We will never be silent when we see people and organisations denigrating our history, our flag and our traditions.
Sadly, not all parties feel the same way. This week, for example, we saw a senior Liberal Party Mayor side with the radical left in opposing Australian Day celebrations on Bondi Beach.
