Another victory in the ongoing fight to protect this country’s fundamental rights:

Donald Trump has been trying to gut birthright citizenship since the moment he took office. Here’s what’s happened:

First, he signed an Executive Order illegally ending it on the day of his inauguration. Within 24 hours, I filed a lawsuit in federal court challenging the order. We fought hard, and won multiple nationwide injunctions blocking it from taking effect.

Then, this June, the Supreme Court issued a ruling in another case that permanently struck down Trump’s illegal order. Unfortunately, Trump wasn’t done — just two months later he turned around and signed another Executive Order to restrict birthright citizenship.

Now, another court has ruled against him and blocked that second order.

These victories show what is possible when we keep up the fight with the facts and the law on our side.

Never before in history has a President been so determined to trample on the fundamental rights of this nation — from the right to vote to the freedom of speech to the right to bodily autonomy to the right to citizenship for every child born in this country. 

But Trump’s historic insistence on brazenly and repeatedly violating the law and the Constitution has been met by an equally historic people-powered movement for justice and accountability — thanks to you.
