Dear Friend,
Election day is November 3rd and I want to provide you with resources so you can make your voice heard and safely vote.
On May 8th, 2020, Governor Gavin Newsom issued Executive Order N-64-20, which requires that a vote-by-mail ballot be mailed to every California voter beginning 29 days prior to election day, in addition to offering in-person voting locations. That means you should expect to receive your ballot by the first week of October. The California Secretary of State has a “Where’s My Ballot” feature to track your ballot so you know when it will arrive in the mail and when it has been received, collected, and counted.
If you are not registered to vote, or would like to check your registration status before election day, please go to registertovote.ca.gov. When checking your registration status, it is important that your address is correct so you are sure to receive your ballot. If the address listed is not your current permanent address, you can re-register online.
If you are registered to vote in Los Angeles County, you can return your ballot by mail (no postage is required), in person at any vote-by-mail drop box location, or at any vote center in LA County. If your ballot is signed, postmarked by Election Day and received within 17 days, it will still be processed and counted. But the best advice to avoid delays is to mail your ballot as soon as possible. If you plan to vote in-person in LA County, voters will have 10 consecutive days and Election Day to vote at any vote center. For more information on tracking your ballot in the mail, requesting a ballot in another language, frequently asked questions, and all other election information for LA County, please visit lavote.net.
If you are registered to vote in San Bernardino County, you can vote by going to an Early Vote site, going to your polling place, mailing your ballot (no postage is required), or returning your ballot to a drop-off location. To view your mail ballot status, ballot drop-off locations, in-person polling place, and district information, please visit sbcountyelections.com.
I hope you will participate in this year’s election. Democracy works best when active citizens exercise their right to vote. If you have any questions regarding the voting process or your registration, or don’t receive your mail-in ballot by the first week of October, please reach out to the Los Angeles County Registrar at (800) 815-2666 or the San Bernardino County Registrar at (800) 881-8683.
Sincerely,
