Reports indicate the infant died shortly after birth, with the primary cause of death identified as a ruptured spleen. While postmortem testing detected measles antibodies, the classification of the death as “caused by measles” is a significant departure from the medical determination of the primary cause of death. The Governor’s actions appear to serve a political objective rather than a medical one. By framing these cases as “measles deaths,” the Governor bypassed standard clinical reporting to create a sense of crisis. This allowed him to immediately shift the narrative toward attacking his political opponents, specifically Secretary Robert F.
