News and Updates Rick Esenberg Discusses Challenge to Gov. Evers's Use of Emergency Powers on Wisconsin Public Radio WILL President Rick Esenberg joined Wisconsin Public Radio to explain why WILL is challenging Governor Tony Evers's second COVID emergency declaration in a lawsuit filed in Polk County. Rick answered questions from the host as well as callers. Listen to Rick's interview with WPR here. Read Rick's op-ed in the Wisconsin State Journal here. Op-Ed: The High-Performing School Deserts of Rural America WILL Research Director Will Flanders highlights for RealClearEducation a blindspot in education reform advocacy: the many regions of America without access to high-performing schools. Flanders uses WILL's recent report on Wisconsin to make the case for more attention from education reform advocates to high-performing school deserts. Read Will's piece here. Op-Ed: Madison's new grading policy will only let students fall through the cracks WILL's policy intern Jillian Ludwig writes in the Cap Times on the Madison Metropolitan School District's decision to initiate alternative grading where students cannot do worse than a 50%. Ludwig argues this defeats the main purposes of grading and won't help the students it intends to assist. Read Jillian's piece here. Donate The work we do would not be possible without the generosity of our donors; we are a tax exempt 501(c)(3) organization that receives no public funds. Our focus is primarily, if not exclusively, on Wisconsin – a state that has become one of the focal points of our ongoing debate about the proper role of the government within society and of the courts within government. As a non-profit and non-partisan organization, we litigate in the areas of property rights, the freedom to earn a living, voting rights, regulation, taxation, school choice, and religious freedom. As an educational organization, we strive to advance the debate concerning law and public policy in these and other areas. Please consider making a donation to support our mission and to continue the fight for freedom. Support WILL Today Read more at www.will-law.org ‌ ‌ ‌ Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty | 330 E.
