Hi John,
Yesterday was Labor Day, and while I wanted to make sure you could enjoy the holiday with your loved ones without another email in your inbox, I thought I’d reach out today and talk about why this holiday is personal for me.
When I graduated high school and was looking for a job to help me pay my way through college, I received that opportunity and so much more working my way up from courtesy clerk to Journeyman at Safeway with UFCW Local 555.
Being part of a labor union not only gave me a living wage to pay for my college education, but it provided me with health care and skills for life that would help me go on to become a college professor. In short, it changed my life.
The workplace protections and economic opportunities we have today – like living wages, weekends and eight-hour workdays, guaranteed sick leave, and more – are thanks to the ongoing labor movement led by workers and unions throughout American history.
I stand in solidarity with our working men and women who have kept America running on the frontlines of this pandemic, and I promise you that as your next representative, I will fight for Southwest Washington’s unions and put working families first – unlike my opponent, Jaime Herrera Beutler.
If you’re ready for a member of Congress who knows firsthand the value and importance of labor unions and will stand up for workers in Washington’s third district, please consider pitching in $10 or more to our campaign today. With just eight weeks left to Election Day, every contribution counts.
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
Thanks for all you do, and thanks to all the workers out there keeping our country running during this unprecedented time.
