Democrats took back the House of Representatives in 2018 by winning districts that most pundits thought were out of reach — like Maine’s 2nd district, where my friend Jared Golden defeated the incumbent Republican in an area Trump won by 10 points.

Top elections forecasters rate this race as a “toss-up” — and the GOP is going all in to defeat Jared and retake the seat.

Outside dark money groups are spending millions against him, making this one of the most competitive congressional races in the country.

Let me tell you a bit about Jared. He’s an independent voice in Congress — not afraid to stand up to Republicans or Democrats to do the right thing for his constituents.

He’s also a tough fighter and a patriot, having served as a Marine in Iraq and Afghanistan.
