Last week Ayanna introduced the Anti-Racism in Public Health Act, in partnership with Representative Barbara Lee and Senator Elizabeth Warren.
This legislation is the first of its kind. It will expand federal research into structural racism and its impacts on Black and Brown communities; it will require the federal government to develop anti-racist health policies and take a public health approach to ending police violence.
Ayanna is the bold, activist leader we need in Congress right now, fighting for our progressive values. She is leading the fight to codify justice and healing.
We need Ayanna’s continued leadership in the halls of Congress. Over the past two years, she has been resisting the occupant of the White House, pushing for progress, and moving the needle on so many issues of consequence.
It is possible to legislate justice and accountability — to put people over profits, joy over trauma, freedom over fear. It is possible to write budgets that actually value Black lives. But we must keep fighting for progress and continue to legislate, advocate, and organize for change.
